Mi Monacita

Mi Monacita

Have you ever had one of those friends that no matter how much time has passed you can talk to them after years and it is like you haven’t missed a wink?  No matter how much you have evolved and missed.  I am fortunate enough that I have a few of these friends.

One of my oldest is Mi Monacita.  We have known each other more than two thirds of our life.  I am sorry to say but this has happened to us numerous times throughout our lives.  No matter how many different paths that we take in our lives they always seem to cross again.

She has been there for many of the major milestones in my life since we were in our single digits.  First kisses, periods, losing my virginity to the one boy that we were both fascinated about as girls, the night we discovered I was her “longest friend”, water filled Vodka bottles, among many more memories.

There was our much needed phone call, after being out of touch again for a couple of years, when we both happened to be young and confused.  Oh and let’s not forget pregnant.  Almost as though we knew we needed each other to relate to at that rough point in our lives, even though we were thousands of miles apart.

And again after nearly 10 years, a controlling boyfriend, children, husbands, and life in general, where do we find each other?  On MySpace of course, where I have connected with many of my friends that I lost throughout the years.  Like it always is picking up where we left off without a wink.

These friends are irreplaceable.  Just because you don’t talk to someone regularly does not mean that you don’t love them, want them, or need them.  They are the ones that can and will help find you when you’re lost, remind you when you have forgotten.
